Welcome to my first blog post. I've been contemplating starting a blog for a few years now. On my 34th Birthday, I made a declaration and commitment that this year was going to be the launching year for it. Well, that was about 7 months ago. What prompted me to finally do it was the recent passing of my 97 year old grandmother "meemaw". I took on the honor of writing her obituary, which ended up being a page long memorable tribute. I was pleasantly surprised by the response it received, but it wasn't just my writing that persuaded me to start a blog, it was hers - meemaw's.
When my sister and I were going through meemaw's belongings, we found a few of her old journals from the 1960s and 1990s - journals that contained personal writings, dreams, studies, prayers and letters to God - things she probably never told anyone. Through her writings, I came to know a part of her that I never had the privilege of knowing when she was living. She was a private individual. Still, I should have taken more time, I should have asked more questions, I should have listened. I am left wishing that I would have known her better. Although there are certain private things (for all of us) that ought to remain wisely covered, I think some of her writings could have been beneficial for her to share, for others to hear, while she was still here.
That got me thinking...
I have journals upon journals, notebooks and docs full of personal writings and such. Perhaps some of my writings could be beneficial for me to share, for others to hear, while I am still here.
A prudent person does not reveal everything she knows. There is a time to be silent and a time to speak; a time to conceal and a time to reveal. There is wisdom in knowing how much or how little to tell depending on your listeners, or readers. This blog was created, after being prompted and prodded, as an outlet for me to share and tell some things... things from my heart and mind... things I tend to keep tucked between the covers of my journals - unseen. Who does that benefit? Only me.
Does the world really need another blog? I don't know. Surely the same can be said about books, movies, shows or songs. So it is my wish for this to become a blog worth looking into.
Come back again soon for the story and the why behind the name, She told why...
Grace and peace ~
